10 Quick Tips That Will Help You Look Like a Twitter Pro

December 15 2014

lwolf 10 quick twitter tipsYou're just one of the 284 million monthly active users on Twitter. So how do you stand out from the masses and make your profile the go-to place?

Luckily there's a lot of little things that you can do to your Twitter profile that will result in more followers and more engagement. Try out some of these tips and tricks and look like a seasoned Twitter pro:

1. While you probably had a great time on your last vacation in Cancun, save the beach photos for the family album. Make your profile picture something that is recognizable and professional.

2. Use your Twitter bio. What makes you unique? What skills do you have? Use hashtags, but don't take it too far. An effective bio will help you connect with those who are relevant to you.

3. Don't make your Twitter profile a forum for self-promotion. Mix in some content that your followers will find valuable. That's not saying that you can't make the occasional tweet talking about how awesome you are.

4. Curate your content from a variety of professional sources to keep your followers interested in what you're sharing.

5. There's no retweet quota that your followers have to meet, so send a thank you tweet to those who decide to share your posts. It only takes a second and it goes a long way.

6. Use hashtags to join relevant conversations. (#realestate #city #state etc.)

7. Following the tip above, don't overuse hashtags. The general rule of thumb is 1-3 hashtags per tweet.

8. You don't have to follow everyone that follows you. While it's nice to reciprocate the follow, if you know that you won't find any value in what someone is tweeting about, save yourself the hassle of filtering through it on your feed. No hard feelings.

9. Include a URL to your blog or website in your bio section. This will make it easy for users to access these links within the mobile app.

10. Don't over think what you're tweeting about. This is often a problem for business accounts. Every tweet doesn't need to go through a series of approvals. A lot of the conversation on Twitter is timely. Don't miss out by making your account manager wait for an approval!
