App of the Month: CardMunch Business Card Reader

August 01 2013

This post comes to us from the Obeo blog:

obeo cardmunchFor most of us, gathering information is a must. We all talk to many potential clients each day, but organizing this information in a usable form can be not only challenging, but time consuming! This is why we chose CardMunch as our Mobile App of the Month.

CardMunch is a free application that lets you scan a business card, then changes that information into data for your phone without wasting time typing in the contact's information. This allows you to quickly store more potential contacts quickly and easily.

One advantage of CardMunch is that is uses a service called Mechanical Turk which hires real people to do simple, repetitive tasks. The pay for these workers is low, but they have very flexible hours, work from home, and so for many it has become an easy way to supplement income.

The next step of using this information is to put it into a drip campaign, and lead management system. This will allow you to effectively follow up with potential clients, reach out to previous clients, and much more! Having information in this day and age gives you more power to reach out to your database of contacts on a regular basis.

For those looking to start doing drip marketing--which Wikipedia defines as the communication strategy that sends or "drips" or pre-written message to customers and prospects over time--this can be accomplished through one or more mediums.

Drip marketing includes e-mail which is the most commonly used form of drip marketing since it is low cost and can send multiple message over time. Direct mail can be more costly, but can be effective in that low-volume print runs are cost justifiable and the printed data can be personalized in each drip message. The last major method for drip marketing is social media which helps communicate advertising by Facebook, Twitter, You Tube and other social media networks.
