Apps! Smart Calendar - Electronic Business Card App

March 26 2013

I just wanted to add a quick post about two apps that I really have been enjoying over the past few weeks. The first one is called Tempo and its job is to create calendar appointments with context and data.

techsavvy tempoMatthew Ferrara recently wrote a great post about anticipatory applications and how he thinks mobile apps should be progressing. I enjoyed his post and agree with him that applications need to be smarter, collect intelligent data from all of the abundant digital resources we use, and make educated guesses on what we want to do.

Tempo does this and does it reasonably well. If you schedule an appointment on your calendar, it scours your emails looking for relevant details--such as contact info, emails, time slots, dial-in numbers, etc.--and places those details in the record of your appointment. Check out the video for more details on how this works.

techsavvy iconIcon.me is a quick little app that allows me to quickly share my personal info with someone else. Rather than giving a person a business card and expecting them to type that info into their phone, they are texted or emailed your information where they can easily save it to their computer or device. Plus, it provides people with some insight into who you are by aggregating your social profiles and posts to one page all about you. It was quick and painless to setup...which I love.

Check out this quick two-minute video on how these apps work in the real world:
