Using Instagram to Enhance Your Real Estate Business [Video]

May 17 2013

Instagram is a FREE photo sharing social network that allows users to capture photographs with their mobile devices and share them with fellow Instagram users. Instagram makes photography easy, and is an opportunity to showcase your business and listings in a more inviting way. Continuing with Getting Started with Instagram for Real Estate, let's discuss five ways to use Instagram to enhance your real estate business.

1. Show us where you are!

Instagram has a great feature that allows you to add a location to your photo. Photos that have a location tag will appear on your photo map. Your followers will definitely appreciate the convenience of use when it comes to narrowing down their home search.

2. Create buzz on a listing

If you're looking to create some extra interest in a home you're selling, focus on more than just the home itself. Does the property feature unique landscaping, tile, staircase or light fixtures? Take a close up shot of the feature and show only a small portion of it, add a filter, effect or frame and presto – you've created a work of art!

3.Connect with clients and followers

Encourage interaction with your followers and clients and have them post, too. (Ex. First time homeowners who have recently purchased from you). Start a contest and invite your clients to post photos of them in their new home using a hashtag such as #myfirsthome.

4. Closing gifts and keepsakes

There are several third party tools available that can transform your Instagram photos into helpful marketing tools, or be used as a way of saying thank you to your clients after they purchase their home.

Three options are:

  • Postagram – Postagram turns your mobile photos, Instagram photos, and Facebook photos into postcards mailed directly from your iPhone or Android phone for 99 cents
  • Stickygram – Turn your photos into magnets! Send new homeowners a pack of magnets with photos of their new home as one final sign of your appreciation.
  • CanvasPop – Create canvas wall mounts of your photos without turning them into a blown-up grainy mess. Pricing starts at $39.95

5. Share, and show off your account!

Lastly, Instagram allows you to broadcast your photos to Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr and Flickr. Let everyone know you are on Instagram by broadcasting your images to these social media sites. If you are regularly posting and an active user on Instagram, don't forget to include the Instagram badge on your website, blog or newsletters. Instagram now also presents your Instagram account as a web profile so even non-mobile users can view your amazing photos!

So what are you waiting for? Get started with Instagram today and be creative with how you show off your business and interact with your followers.
