July 22 2015

n4l adjusted millennial takeoverToday, all you hear is how the millennial generation has an addiction to technology, whether it's their smartphone, Internet, or social media, and this is definitely true. Now more than ever the general population is dependent on technology—an astounding 83% of the millennial generation (about ages 16-35) say that they sleep with their smartphones in reach. What can you do to use this to your advantage?

Step One: Fine-Tune Your Online Presence

Start with social media. The millennial social media presence is dominating any other generation. According to a study done by Pew Research, 81% of the millennial generation is active on Facebook and has a median number of 250 friends. What's more, Goldman Sachs reports that 38% of the generation uses social media as a tool for communicating with others about services, products, and brands.

Although this information can cause some pressure to up your social media game, you can also ensure that your message is being seen. But it also needs to be memorable because users are exposed to a lot of content at once. Make sure your Tweets, Facebook posts, Instagrams, and blogs are sending the message you really want.

Step Two: Build Trust

Surprisingly, the millennial generation has the lowest levels of social trust. When a social science survey asked them, "Generally speaking, would you say that most people can be trusted or that you can't be too careful in dealing with people?" just 19% of millennials say most people can be trusted.

A good way to build trust is through affiliations on your website. Choosing well-known, reputable service providers to link your clients to will help boost the trust they have in your expertise! Most homebuyers and sellers look to their Realtor for suggestions of resources for their home needs. It is not enough to merely talk about services you recommend. Providing links through a home services directory is an easy way to show that you're an expert in your field.

Step Three: Make it Personal

It's obvious to say that a message that resonates a personal meaning is more likely to grab the attention of the viewer. This requires you to really know your audience. Keep in touch with clients and don't just follow them on social media, but read their posts and stay updated on their information so you know how to best connect with them.
