Video Idea of the Week: Why Tell Prospects What You Do When You Can Show Them?

November 28 2012

One thing I always find both humorous and puzzling is a REALTOR's® desire to cram so much content into a web page that it is impossible to read. I get it, you have a lot to tell people about what you can do for them, but if the page is too cluttered, or going to take more than a few minutes to read through, website visitors are simply going to move on to the next real estate website.

What can be done to avoid this? One very easy way is to put the ad copy on the shelf and use video. Rather than write long lists of what you do for clients when guiding them through the home process, educate them with video.

Here is a video from a REALTOR® in Sacramento named Gina Riede. She took a very easy approach of simply shooting herself as she is on her way to a home inspection (showing not only what she does, but also educating people about the importance of home inspections).

Another example is from a San Diego based REALTOR® named Oliver Graf. Oliver put together a video about the first steps to purchasing a home, and had a colleague that is a mortgage professional sit in on the video with him.

These are two quick examples to show you how you can scrap the excessive ad copy and generic "why hire me" stuff found on many sites, and create engaging, educational content that will not only show prospective clients what you do, but also your expertise.
