How to Earn Non-Commission Revenue from Your Broker Website

July 05 2017

We're continuing our series on shortcuts and features you may not know about in the tech products you already use (see the first post here).

Today, we're highlighting a way that brokers and MLSs can earn extra revenue with their consumer facing websites, courtesy of Nest4Less, a client retention platform from our 2017-18 Technology Guide.

What is Nest4Less?

n4less homes services directory logoNest4Less encourages repeat visits to your real estate website by offering free directories of home-related services like movers, home security, plumbers, painters, and home improvement retailers. The directories are attractive and plug right into your website or Facebook business page within minutes.

Every Nest4Less directory comes pre-populated with entries from national brands, so your brand-new directory isn't empty at first. Brokers can customize their Nest4Less directories by removing the national entries as needed, or by adding entries for their preferred local vendors. While Nest4Less is free to real estate professionals, vendors pay an advertising fee to appear in the directories. Brokers and MLSs can earn a share of the fees paid by local vendors they invite to advertise in the directory.

Why use Nest4Less?

Aside from the obvious benefit of earning extra revenue, Nest4Less directories also fill a consumer need. Research from consulting firm WAV Group revealed that real estate professionals are the first resource sellers turn to to ask about needed repairs before listing their home. Fifty-eight percent of sellers consult their agent about repairs over contractors (12 percent), home inspectors or appraisers (both 2 percent).

Consumers expect the real estate professional to be the doorway to these recommendations. Brokers can extend these expectations beyond the close of the transaction by continuing to offer recommendations for home services vendors. Leveraging Nest4Less is a simple way to do that—and to keep your firm and your agents top of mind for anything related to home ownership.

How to set up revenue share opportunities

As we mentioned, brokers and MLSs can earn revenue from local businesses they successfully invite to advertise in the directory. Nest4Less makes this a simple process. Brokers can send invites to their preferred vendors right from theNest4Less interface:

If the vendor accepts your invitation, the Nest4Less platform then handles the entire onboarding process from payment to setting up a directory entry.

The revenue share is based on how many websites the invited vendor is displayed on. So to earn more, brokers can deploy Nest4Less directories across all of their agents' websites. This increases their distribution and your potential earnings.
