4 Reasons Why Millennials Can Get Your Video Marketing Into Shape

May 12 2015

Hdc Using Millennials for VideoUsing videos to market a property listing is similar to exercising, in the sense that everyone's aware of how important it is, but for some reason only two in ten Americans that get the recommended levels of exercise (CDC). This is the same in the world of real estate video marketing, as 70% of homeowners would rather list their home with an agent using video, but less than one percent of agents offer it (NAR).

Just as it is helpful to hire a personal trainer to show you how to exercize, today's tech savvy millennials will be your "trainer" for finally getting your video marketing off the ground.

Here are 4 reasons why you should consider hiring a millennial (currently ages 18-33) for your next real estate video:

1. They're Looking for Opportunities

Data from the U.S Census Bureau found that millennials make up 40% of the total share of unemployed workers in the United States. These young adults are looking for any way to earn a little bit of extra money and with 48 percent of millennials spending more time watching videos than the average user (comScore), it's safe to say that they know a thing or two about what makes up a good final product.

2. Cheaper than a Professional

The Bureau of Labor Statistics found that the mean hourly wage of a professional film and video editor was $33.41. The good news is that a local college student or recent graduates who has experience with video will likely be much cheaper than your local video professional. This partnership will save also you a little bit of money and give an aspiring video editor an opportunity to showcase their talent, which could lead to more job opportunities for them down the road.

3. Make Sharing the Video Easy

Millennials now spend over three hours a day on social networking sites (Statista), which means they have plenty of opportunities to show off the video they helped create with their friends. In fact, millennials have an average of 318 friends on Facebook, most of which are sharing content daily (PewResearch). The additional exposure will likely beneifit you by building rapport with future home buyers and renters that you may have otherwise missed out on.

4. Millennials Can Drive More Business

Although there is a significant amount of the millennial generation that is unable to afford a home, they still account for a large portion of the housing market. Seventy-seven million members strong, millennials currently account for 30 percent of buyers in the housing market (NAR). The millennial you choose to help you with your video marketing will likely know someone that is looking to buy or rent a home, and you'll be at the top of their referral list!

Just as exercising is important to living a healthy life, having a strong video marketing strategy will help make your business thrive.
