So the question has been... Why The Hip Roof? What is The Hip Roof? So I hope the about page answers that.

Oh, and The Hip Roof, double entendre intended, or pub, however you wish to view it - a hip roof is a roof style, and it is also a "cool" place to be. Well at least Chris and I thought it was cool when I presented the list of brainstormed names to him. The domain hiproof was already taken, so he suggested I add the word The (that's why he's who he is, the smart creative out of the box stuff, and why I primarily sell stuff). So there it is!

Maybe this is cheating on a blog post, but I don’t see a reason to reinvent the wheel when the one I have works really well. Maybe it is just answering a question that is coming up, so I am copying and pasting the “About” page from The Hip Roof. Many people have been asking me about it, how it came to be and why it came to be, what it is, and so on. It is tough to give a free preview inside a closed community, I will be doing some webinar tours in the coming weeks, but we are mid-soft launch right now and that pricing structure is less than 50% of the regular membership.

Here it is:

The Hip Roof is the culmination of nearly three years of social media experience, experiments and success, dreamt up by Maya Paveza, a working and award-winning real estate agent.  Maya started out after college working in the tech and design space, and got into real estate license in 2001 (although she began working in the indsutry in 1986) to combine her dream career with having a family.   She started using social media to help her expand her business, and rapidly began sharing her experience and success with others.

Maya began dreaming about an online community devoted to real estate agents  and how to help these essentially small business entrepreneurs maximize their own time and efforts, leading to a more in-depth knowledge of the industry and developing tools and skills to help increase sales and connections with customers.

Maya began meeting more and more amazing agents in this space, who have generously agreed to help and become our Expert Contributors.  While the path to launching The Hip Roof has not always been easy, it’s been an adventure worth taking, every step of the way.

In March, 2010, Maya met up with Chris Brogan, of Human Business Works, who offered to help accelerate development of this idea, as he recognized that Real Estate Agents are small business people just like those he helps nurture every day through his other online projects, including Kitchen Table Companies, My Escape Velocity, 501 Mission Place, Third Tribe, and through his very own blog,Chrisbrogan.com. We are proud to be associated with the company that created those wonderful communities!  While The Hip Roof is independent from Human Business Works, it would have never gotten off the ground without the important help and advice offered from the whole HBW gang!  Thanks!

The Hip Roof promises to be a vital and growing community of real estate agents and professionals from all over, allowing us as a group to maximize the sum of our experience and expertise to help the industry aa a whole as well as ourselves, individually, succeed.  By providing expert-run courses, webinars, seminars and ebooks, as well as the forums, the mixture between expert-advice and practical, on

the ground knowledge and experience will prove to be a benefit to both new agents and veterans alike. Additionally, because the community exists online, it means you can come and participate whenever it’s convenient for you, with other agents, and can adapt to meet the changing needs of this ever-changing marketplace. Growth and flexibility is unlimited.

The Hip Roof is for real estate agents by real estate agents – first and foremost, but also offers private forums for office leadership (including brokers, owners and managers), lending partners, title representatives and attorneys. The private forums allow the specialty industry partners to interact in their private space without worrying about any sort of RESPA violation or other privacy issue.  We also created a section for Home Inspectors. These are all the people that agents deal with on a daily basis, and are all part of The Hip Roof community.
