How Can Your Business Connect With Consumers?

June 24 2013

pcms how do you connect your business with consumersHow do you connect with consumers for your business?

We are all need to connect with people to survive. If you are in real estate, your ability connect with people will determine your success—in one way or another.

That said, how can you connect with consumers in today's increasingly overloaded—and overwhelmed—environment? Everyone is talking about social media and, although I totally agree with the benefits of this medium, the concepts of connecting with people don't change whether you are doing so online or offline:

  • You never sell. People need to get to know you as a person before they even begin to consider giving up any of their hard earned money to you.
  • You always provide value. How cool is it when someone really helps you figure something out and don't expect something in return? Don't you want to do something for them or at the very least keep in touch?
  • You always make it about them. Nothing makes a person feel better than someone caring about their needs, their feelings. Why should business be any different?

What's particularly important in the age of social media is not forgetting these basic ideas that have worked for centuries. If you can figure out how to consistently engage people both in person and through your social outlets, you will be viewed as a leader, an expert, and someone who can truly help people address their issues.

Isn't this better than coming across as a sales person?

I have been in sales my whole career. I have sold real estate, franchises, and a variety of other services. The bottom line is that I have been helping people.

Given the nature of today's business and economic environment, it's really important to keep these basics ideas front and center in all you do.
