RESO Data Dictionary
    What is the Data Dictionary?  It’s Real Estate’s “Rosetta Stone” The Data Dictionary serves as the real estate industry’s “Rosetta Stone” for real estate data. Hundreds of MLS, and other source providers, gather data. But what good is it if the data cannot be shared or understood? The Data Dictionary ensures that each system “speaks” the same language. It is the common standard that defines real estate data in consistent terms and data structures; a template data providers may follow to format its most common fields. The RESO Dictionary has two purposes. Serve as a non-RETS guideline for a national standard for the fields and look-ups (enumerations) in the MLS. Common center for all expressions of fields and enumerations. As an MLS reviews change, it is advised to consider the benefits of growing closer to the national standard. Not only will it make the effort of ensuring RESO compliance easier, it will also ensure that as listings progress through IDX and other aggregation points, the meaning of your data is not diluted or misinterpreted. The Data Dictionary is broken down into the following tabs. Please review the following details and information on use of the dictionary. Meta-Definitions: This page should be reviewed first. The goal of this standard is to provide a more open data approach using the widely-adopted RESTful (REpresentational State Transfer) technology in use by many industries today.  RESO’s move toward a RESTful standard is to encourage and promote access to real estate information directly from web, mobile, social and other HTTP-based applications. The 1.0.2 standard leverages the best of Global Technologies and is built upon, in part, the OData v4.0 standard.  Extensive efforts put forth by the RESO Workgroup volunteers has ensured the future of the transactional specification to conform to OData 4.0 in order to provide off the shelf OData tool set compatibility for the Real Estate Industry.  The new specification provides a number of updates based on feedback from the workgroup and RESO membership.  Content was added to or modified in nearly all sections to help clarify content or answer open questions.  The Data Dictionary v1.3, v1.4, and the EDMX are currently being generated for the API Specification and should be completed no later than end of September.  The 1.0.2 Specification is the officially approved and ratified standard by the RESO Board of Directors.  Realtor owned and/or affiliated MLSs will have till June 30, 2016 to implement and certify against the RESO Standards through the RESO Compliance Certification Process per the N.A.R.
