MLSListings Wins the Gold & Platinum, First RESO Web API Certification in the U.S.

August 22 2016

Morrisville, NC – August 23, 2016 – MLSListings, the premier multiple listing service for real estate professionals in Silicon Valley and the northern California region, is the first Multiple Listing Service in the nation to be RESO Web API Certified. Known for its forward-thinking approach to providing services to its more than 15,000 real estate professionals and their clients, MLSListings received its Certification from the Real Estate Industry Standards Organization, a nonprofit organization that creates data standards for the real estate industry.

"We are extremely proud of our RESO certifications.  As we elevate data standardization, we also elevate the ability for brokers and agents to align with buyers and sellers.  Data standardization is an important part of our platform to enable seamless real estate transactions, without technological or unnecessary business barriers," said James Harrison, R.C.E. C.A.E., President and CEO of MLSListings Inc.

Jeremy Crawford, Executive Director of RESO, says MLSListings is once again "leading the charge among MLSs" as pioneer in implementing the latest industry standards. "MLSListings was among the first MLSs to adopt the RESO Data Dictionary, acquire the highest level of RESO Data Dictionary Certification of Platinum and now achieve the Gold Level of Certification for the RESO Web API.  MLSListings has continuous brought some of the nation's brightest Silicon Valley engineers to the standards table with heavy participation within the RESO community for the good of the overall industry. Because they listen to their members and think ahead to the technology they need to provide to help them sell more homes, they can now leverage the power of the new RESO Web API for their thousands of members. That's great news for homebuyers in the Silicon Valley and the other northern California markets MLSListings serves."

Crawford explains that API is the acronym for "Application Program Interface," and for Multiple Listing Services, he explains it is "simply a way to transfer data that can eliminate the need to copy listing information between different servers." He added, "It is not only the best way for an MLS to be the original and only source of MLS property data, but the new RESO Web API can make everyone's life simpler because the new technology will deliver efficiencies in the collection and use of MLS data by real estate agents and brokers, MLS technology providers and MLSs."

MLSListings leader Harrison added, "For home buyers and sellers, this new technology can mean more reliable and more current information, and that will create a better real estate experience."

For real estate firms that intersect with property data, the RESO Web API delivers several "big wins" Crawford said, including "speedier development with more robust features, a faster path to listing data deployment, a lightweight footprint helping power mobile solutions in real-time and simplification. The Web API means reducing the need to have multiple software solutions for multiple markets, and that is incredibly welcomed news, particularly for real estate brokerages and software developers."

MLSListings members will benefit from improved MLS data access with faster updates and results, as well as increased security. Additional information about the new Web API is available online at http://www.reso.org/reso-web-api. The RESO Web API will also be in focus during the 2016 RESO Fall Conference, October 24-26, in Nashville. Details and registration information is at www.reso.org/fall-mtg.
