Twitter News: Now You Can Upload Videos on the Go

March 06 2015

p2 AddVideoOnTwitterFile this under "social media news you may have missed." In late January, Twitter added the capability to record and upload videos within the Twitter mobile app. It's now easier than ever before to have a multimedia presence on Twitter.

Twitter is a fast-paced social media platform that allows you to share your content in 140 characters or less. Previously you could include links to Vine, YouTube or other hosted videos in your tweets, but you couldn't capture and share video on the go. This was cumbersome and largely limited your real-time interactions to a few sentences and maybe a photo.

That's not a concern anymore!

The Twitter app update now allows you to record and host video clips up to 30 seconds in length to pair with your tweets. That's the perfect length for a client testimonial or quick home tour.

How It Works

Adding video to your tweets is easy. First, make sure you have the newest update of the app on your phone or tablet. Then simply open your Twitter app and click the camera icon when composing a new tweet. To switch to video mode, click the video camera icon and then press and hold to record.

Aside from just shooting video, the Twitter app update allows you to edit your videos before posting them, so you can cut together your best shots. For more information, click here.

Soon, all users will also be able to upload any video that's already saved on your camera roll, whether you shot it using the Twitter App or not.

Applications for Real Estate

There are many ways you can leverage this Twitter app update to build your brand and stimulate positive social signals. Here are a few ideas for what to do with your 30 seconds of fame:

  • Share a client testimonial.
  • Tour through a new listing.
  • Highlight a new neighborhood business or attraction.
  • Does your selling area have pretty views? Take a quick panoramic video.
  • Record yourself giving a quick tip for first time buyers.
  • Share breaking news in your market.
  • Ask your followers to share their videos. Choose a fun or home-related theme and RT them.

In addition to uploading video to Twitter, you can now embed Twitter videos on your agent website, eliminating the need to take that extra step of hosting them somewhere else in between. You can read more about embedding your Twitter videos here.
