July 24 2014

Hashtags are used across all social platforms, and have become an effective way to communicate and share information online. However, not all hashtags are created equal, and it's important to find the RIGHT hashtags to help build an audience. This week's pulpisode shares a few tools to help you do just that.

Hi everyone, welcome back to The Pulp. My name is Amanda. Finding hashtags relevant to your real estate niche is critical when it comes to engaging with customers on social media. It allows you to join in the conversation online which helps build an audience around your brand, and helps establish you the authority in your local market.

But not all hashtags are created equal. It's not just about finding hashtags, it's about finding the RIGHT hashtags. So today, I'm going to talk about a few Twitter tools that help with that.

First, identify the influencers in your space and see what hashtags they're using to spark a conversation. Twitonomy is a great analytics tool that allows you to analyze the hashtags of key influencers.

Twitonomy provides actionable reports that breakdown hashtags you're using and their engagement level. It also allows you to enter competitor information to help you create a list of popular hashtags. Just connect Twitonomy with your Twitter account and you're ready to get started.

Step two involves taking that same starter list of hashtags and entering them into Hashtagify.me. This will create a list of related or similar hashtags to those you entered, displayed in an easy to understand circle graph. The larger the circle, the more popular that particular hashtag is. As long as those hashtags logically relate to your niche, use them to expand your reach!

There needs to be a balance when using those popular hashtags though, so the last tool I want to share with you is RiteTag. RiteTag allows you to enter your hashtags one last time to help determine the Tweet density. It's color coded to represent different levels: For example, Blue means "good", Green means "great", and Red means "overused". If you want to gain valuable exposure for your Tweets, using a generic hashtag like #SocialMedia that is overused, means that your Tweet is likely to get lost in the masses.

Remember, this is an ongoing process, so be sure to revisit these tools regularly to help you stay competitive in your niche.

Thanks everyone for watching. That's your tip for this week. See you next time!
