Unboxing the New iPad App 'Slide Bureau'

May 08 2014

As a newbie to the real estate technology industry, my journey has been nothing short of a learning experience. With a solid background in social media, I had a foundation to build from but what I didn't know was how the real estate industry used the various social media platforms or other technological tools available for agents, brokers and multiple listing services. To quote Aladdin, it was a "Whole new world!"

At first, it was a bit overwhelming. Not only did I have to learn the different real estate terms, but I was also playing catch-up on the different technological tools. I've been in this industry for five weeks now and every week I learn about a new and exciting technology available to the real estate industry.

This past week I sat in on a demo for Slide Bureau, a presentation creation and sharing service. After the demo ended, I promptly downloaded The Slide Bureau app on to my iPad. The layout of the app was simple and color wise, it was easy on the eyes.

It allows users to open a free account either through their Facebook, Twitter or email account. With just one touch of the Twitter button, I was connected!

The Slide Bureau had over 212 templates for me to choose from, all of which, upon first sight, were very inviting. I had a hard time choosing which template to use because they were all so interesting. Once I clicked on what I thought was a template, it opened to a category of templates.

The "Big Numbers" category had four different templates to choose from in four different colors and font. I went back and found that all the categories had upwards of two templates each and none were too similar. They also had a button on the bottom left hand side of my screen that allows users to work with The Slide Bureau to create the exact template that he or she wants. That was very impressive to me! How many times have you been stuck using the simple, and let's face it, boring template Power Point offers because all the other templates just go progressively downhill after that? That number is probably infinite.

After choosing a template things got a little bit harder. Figuring out how to add information and photos was harder than I thought it should be and directions were few and far between. However, I think that The Slide Bureau has a great start and with a bit more refinement and product testing, they will not only have a great service but something that would also be a quick easy-to-use tool for real estate agents across the globe.
