The Value in a Quality Service Certification®

May 13 2013

Buying or selling a home is one of the most important financial decisions a person will ever make and selecting the right real estate agent will make a significant difference in their experience. While it's assumed brokerages and agents provide maximum effort and professionalism in all of their transactions, is there any way to prove that?

The Quality Service Certification (QSC) was created to protect and educate consumers when selecting a real estate professional. QSC certified brokers and agents make a pledge to clients, which is a description of all services they promise to provide throughout the transaction. In order to receive the QSC certification, real estate professionals must:

  • Attend the QSC program
  • Pass a written examination
  • Sign a commitment to follow prescribed procedure

After every transaction, clients are given a survey from an independent research company with critical questions of their overall experience. The responses must maintain a consistent level of good responses in order for agents and brokerages to maintain their QSC certification. Although it was created to protect the consumer, the value of a QSC certification is also realized by hard working professionals. This way the consumer knows that they are getting an agent with a proven track record and the real estate professional receives the recognition and referrals as a result of their hard work.

Maintaining this standard is crucial to the long term success of the industry. People now have countless resources for attempting the buying and selling process on their own. But if they can see the value associated in the services of a real estate professional, why would they attempt the process alone? There has been much discussion in the industry over rating systems, but QSC is an established program with the right intentions.

If brokerages and agents see the value in providing clients with a high level of customer service, then it will be easy to see the value in the QSC program. It's time to be recognized for the hard work and professionalism in your real estate business. For more information on how you can participate in the QSC program, please visit qualityservice.org or ratedagent.com.

If you're a user of the brokerWOLF back office accounting solution, QSC is an integration option which makes managing your ratings extremely easy.
