13 Helpful iPhone Apps for Agents

iphone200pxHow many real estate agents do you know that seem to permanently have their iPhone in their hand? More than you can count, right? I'll bet you're even one of them. So I'm going to hop on the bandwagon and throw my two cents into a topic that has been covered many times: helpful, FREE iPhone apps for real estate agents. These aren't the consumer-facing apps your clients would use (i.e. Zillow, Trulia, and; these are just for you.

1. GasBuddyGasBuddy: As a REALTOR®, you spend more time than you'd like in your car. With the cost of gas where it is (sky high), finding a great deal can be very helpful. GasBuddy will search for gas stations near your location and list the current price per gallon.

2. Find My iPhoneFind My iPhone: You're busy! You're rushing around to showings, listing presentations, dropping the kids off at school/sports/dance class, trying to fit in a few minutes on the treadmill at the gym. No wonder you've lost your phone a few times. This app is a lifesaver if/when you do.

3. LogMeInLogMeIn: You're headed to an important meeting with a client and realize that you've forgotten to print out some important notes. The notes, unfortunately, are on your home computer and you're 30 minutes away. With LogMeIn, you can access your home computer from your iPhone and access the information you need. There's a free version – but you also have the option to upgrade for enhanced features.

4. Weather UndergroundWeather Underground: Wondering what to wear to that business lunch? Trying to plan the route you'll take when driving a prospective buyer to a showing (along the coast or through the city)? Knowing the weather is very important. The Weather Underground app is one of the better options for getting quick, accurate weather predictions.

5. KayakKayak: Getting ready to attend NAR Midyear in Washington, D.C. or Inman Connect in San Francisco? There's an app that can help with all your travel plans: Kayak. This app will help you search for the cheapest flight, book them, and track the flight status. You can also search for and book hotels or rental cars. Not wild about Kayak? Consider HipmunkHipmunk.

6. MapQuest 4 MobileMapQuest 4 Mobile: My Android can kick your iPhone's butt when it comes to directions – but MapQuest's app narrows the gap.

7. YelpYelp: Does an out-of-town buyer need a recommendation for dinner? Have their culinary preferences left you stumped? Check out this free app from Yelp with user reviews of local eateries (of every variety).

8. FoursquareFoursquare: Many of you probably use Foursquare in your personal life, but are you also using it professionally? Here are a few tips on how to use Foursquare for your business: 3 Potential Real Estate Applications for Foursquare.

Many of your favorite real estate technology vendors may also have an iPhone app of their own. These aren't consumer-facing apps, these are functional apps created specifically for real estate professionals. Here are a few examples (this is far from a comprehensive list):
