Free Time? Grow Your Real Estate Business with These Best Practices

August 02 2020

It's easy to get caught up in the workday and just have no time to yourself. You often find yourself thinking about what you would do if you had an hour or even 30 minutes to yourself. Here are a few best practices you can follow to help your business, even during your FREE time.

1. Breathe, meditate, exercise, etc.

It is important to recognize the fact that you will not be able to grow or nurture your real estate business without focusing on yourself first. Mental health and stress are not to be ignored, especially during this uneasy time. Spend a few minutes everyday to just breathe, meditate, and/or do some exercises. This can even involve taking a few moments to just unwind (without looking at your phone) and just drink some water. If you have too much on your mind, your real estate business will take a turn in a negative direction.

2. Clean up your desk space/home

Again, this doesn't involve your computer. But this is another best practice you can start incorporating into your life. If you want to start focusing on growing your real estate business, you need to make sure everything is organized where you DO most of your work. That means cleaning up your desk, your dining room table or even the kitchen table. At the end of your cleaning session, light a candle or find another way to create a tranquil environment where you feel at peace and are ready to tackle your to-do list.

3. Organize your database

ixact have spare timeWe've mentioned this in previous blogs, but here is another reminder. There is nothing like an organized database, where your contacts are categorized in proper designated areas. An Excel spreadsheet or sticky notes will only be more overwhelming. A CRM, specifically a real estate CRM, is the only tool you can trust to really compartmentalize your contacts. An easy-to-use database will have your contacts stored properly, and on top of that, will have rich contact profiles showcased on your screen, so you don't have to worry about scouring to find social media profiles or other info.

4. Make a phone call or two

We constantly stress the importance of sending out a monthly e-Newsletter or assigning your contacts to a nurture drip campaign to often keep in touch and make sure you are top of mind.

But making a phone call or two is also another best practice to incorporate into your daily schedule. This helps grow your real estate business by connecting you to your contacts. This is especially crucial if you have a new contact because they will see some personality behind the phone, something that cannot entirely be done through the computer. This is also important for your mental health. If you live alone or are home for the entirety of the day by yourself, you may start to feel lonely. You are only human. Making a call or two and talking on the phone for 10 minutes can help you get over any feelings of anxiety you may have.

5. Work on your social media

Many of us may neglect our business social media accounts. It's so easy to get caught up in our personal lives with our personal Instagram or Facebook. Some of you may not have any form of social media. When it comes to your personal life, it is fine to refrain from any social media. In fact, it is healthy to do so. But when it concerns your real estate business, it is one of the most important best practices to follow. Creating a Facebook, Twitter, Linkedin and Instagram is one thing, but being active on it is another. Spend a few minutes a day and interact on your social media, post some interesting content, and reply to your comments. It takes a few minutes out of your day, but it is a great way to work on your real estate business and stay present.

Key Takeaways

You don't have to follow all of these steps every day. It is normal to have off days or days where you just want to be away from your computer to unwind. That is perfectly normal. But incorporating one or two of these best practices everyday when you have the time will help you reach your real estate goals. They may seem small, but eventually, in a few months, you will see how effective they are. Make this the year where you start working on you and your real estate business!
