Moving Mountains In Real Estate

December 14 2011

Right on the heels of our most popular show ever, where we talked about raising the bar in the real estate industry, agent ratings and verification, today’s show covers a different perspective on agent reviews.

Mountain of Agents is a directory where people can easily and quickly search for real estate agents. Is this something the really needs, another “review” site? Michael Becker, the CEO of Mountain of Agents, thinks so.

Real Estate... It's all about location, location, location.

Mountain of Agents is a real estate agent directory created for consumers, by consumers. They provide a reputable resource for consumers to research and contact local agents on their own terms.

After experiences his own difficulty finding an agent when he and his wife went to buy a home, Michael decided to take action. The same process that has led many to get into the real estate industry led Michael to create Mountain of Agents.

According to Michael, “Buying a home is already such a complex process; we decided to make it our mission to take some of the guesswork out of picking an agent.”

Climbing The Mountain

One of the biggest problems that continues to persist on most real estate websites today is usability. Whether it’s with agent directories or with agent websites, the industry needs to take one giant leap forward in the user interface department.

Mountain of Agents tackles this problem beautifully. Not only is the site clean and simple, the process for a consumer to find you the agent is amazingly simple.

All the consumer has to do is type in their zip code, or the zip code they’re looking to buy in and Mountain of Agents shoots back all the agents in the directory that are closest to the consumer’s target area.

From there the consumer can review each agent by checking out the agent’s bio video, agent ratings and view your social activity. They can do their own research by following you on any social network you post on your profile, so make sure you avoid spamming the social spaces.

Once they’ve narrowed down which agent they want to work with they can contact you via phone, email, Twitter or Facebook.

It’s free to create a profile. Let me say that again in case you didn’t read that last sentence, it’s free to create a profile. If all you ever got from this site was one lead, that turned into one sale, your return on investment would be incredible!

On your agent profile, you can put your photo, a video bio, links to your website and social media sites. You can even set up a Twitter stream directly on your profile. Consumers will have access to your contact information, get the personal touch of a video bio, and they’ll also get to read your tweets while they browse.

It’s a truly unique directory experience, you can’t find anywhere else.

Action!

Be sure to check out their awesome iPhone app. Did we mention you can buy zip codes that can give you that cost-effective way to edge out the competition?

Between fantastic groups like Verified Agent and Mountain of Agents, we will raise the bar.

What are your thoughts on the synergy between two services like this?
