Format for Writing Agent Bios

February 05 2019

WAV Group has written a lot about agent profiles, and usually with scorn. There is nothing that demonstrates a lack of professionalism than a profile with a grey cutout instead of a professional photo, or an empty bio page.

In some small way, I hope that this quick article will stimulate a few more brokers, teams, and agents to rekindle the professional flame and update headshots and bios now.

Have your agents answer these questions to get started:

Three words to describe me are _____________, _____________, and ____________.

My ideal morning is _______________________.

I dream of _______________________.

I am grateful for _______________________.

I love being a real estate agent because ___________________________.

My clients use these three words to describe me: _______, _______, and _______.

Music you might hear in my car is _______________________.

My real estate experience includes ______________________.

I am excited to be a part of Brokerage Name because __________________.

When not working, I like to ____________________________.

Something that you may not know about me is that __________________.

Trust me, this is a fun exercise. You can do this at an office meeting by printing out a sheet of paper. A brokerage can make these questions part of the onboarding process.

If it is not working out and you just want to get the job done, consider hiring a copywriter. If you want to see a well-executed strategy of framing agent brands – look at the agent pages that Compass creates for their agents. They endeavor to establish a unique narrative for each agent they hire.

If you want to see my favorite execution of agent headshots, head over to They just launched a new website developed by Inside Real Estate using the KVcore Platform. Here is a screenshot that shows how the agent photos are laid out:
