Think Outside the Box: 4 Other Social Media Sites You Should Join

September 23 2018

delta other social sites to joinAre you working on expanding your real estate social media presence? Big-name social sites like Facebook and Twitter are great places to start, but they are far from the only options. There are a ton of smaller but still popular social media sites that you can use to grow your business, as well as familiar, large websites that you may not realize double as social networks. Today, we're going to take a closer look at four outside-the-box social media websites for building relationships and marketing your real estate business.

1. YouTube

Let's start with a website that you know, but may not be using for social marketing. YouTube is a fantastic place for finding video content on nearly any topic under the sun, and also functions as one of the world's largest social networks. The ability to comment on videos, create your own channel, and interact with the people who view your content make YouTube an excellent site for social marketing. Creating a channel for your brand where you can share videos with real estate advice, home improvement tips, and home tours is a great place to start.

2. Pinterest

So many homeowners love working on projects around the house, whether it's DIY decorating or a home improvement project. Pinterest is an ideal platform for reaching those homeowners because it's a visual medium that's all about sharing ideas. Post photos and videos on popular topics, engage with others who are talking about topics important to your business and share your expertise in a way that reflects well on your brand.

3. ActiveRain

Unlike some of the other entries on our list, ActiveRain is a social network geared specifically toward real estate agents, allowing you to connect with a network of more than 100,000 active agents across the world. It's a great spot to discuss the topics that matter most in the real estate industry, develop your professional network, and earn referrals from other agents. ActiveRain is free to use, and setting up your profile on the site is more than worth the effort.

4. Snapchat

While it's hard to call one of the most popular social networks in the world an outside-the-box solution, Snapchat's user base skews towards a young, Millennial audience, so not every agent will be familiar with the marketing power of the platform. Snapchat is a great platform for communicating with prospects and offers some unique marketing tools. Snapchat's geofilters allow you to place digital filters on physical, real-world locations, so that you can place a filter on an open house location, and visitors can use Snapchat to learn more about your real estate brand.
