Do Real Estate Agents Need Apple's New iPhone XS?

September 17 2018

hdc do agents need new iphone xsSmartphones play bigger and bigger roles in our lives, to the point that many people manage their livelihood through their phone. With smartphones having such an impact on our day-to-day lives, it's important to keep up with the latest technology.

One of the latest updates came on September 12, when Apple unveiled its latest iPhones. Among these are the iPhone XS (starting at $999) and iPhone XS Max (starting at $1,099). However, while many were expecting a revolutionary new device, Apple instead offers a better, faster version of its predecessor. They explained that the "iPhone XS is everything you love about iPhone. Taken to the extreme." In other words, it is a much better, faster version of the iPhone X.

So then, the question real estate agents should be asking themselves becomes, "Do I need one?"

Battery Life and Storage

Despite the disappointment that rumors suggesting the iPhone XS would include wireless charging were false, the new iPhones do have extended battery life. The iPhone XS will have 30 more minutes of battery life than the iPhone X, and the iPhone XS Max will last up to an hour and a half longer. Additionally, the iPhone XS Max will have the largest storage capabilities of any iPhone with as much as 512 GB of storage.

Camera

The enhanced camera functionality may be one of the most exciting aspects of the latest iPhone. The new iPhone XS, like the iPhone X, has two rear cameras. However, in the newest version of the iPhone, Apple has improved true tone flash. It's reported to be twice as fast as the previous version.

Apple has also added new photo editing features to the iPhone XS models; you can now edit your photos' depth to blur out the less important aspects of your shot. This tool can help you focus on specific features of your listings and even take more professional-looking headshots with your iPhone.

Design

The appeal of a shiny new device can't be overlooked as a potential factor when deciding whether or not to buy the iPhone XS. It has a stainless steel frame and comes in three colors: gold, silver, and space grey. Most importantly, it has a larger display area than any other iPhone. It essentially takes over the entire screen in both the 5.8" and 6.5" screens. This means you would have a bigger surface area on which to work and communicate than ever before on an iPhone.

Siri Shortcuts

The new iPhone XS series will also include a "smarter Siri" and more Siri shortcuts. For those who can't afford a personal assistant, this feature offers a great solution to stay organized and on top of things in your busy day-to-day.

Dual SIM Capability

According to Apple, iPhone XS will be the first iPhone to carry Dual SIM capability. This feature allows your phone to run on two separate SIM cards. You can use this feature to easily differentiate between business and personal communications without having to carry around two mobile devices.

Dual SIM capabilities also give you better coverage since you can add SIMs from two different carriers to a single smartphone. So, if you have a showing in an area with poor service from one provider, the other SIM card can work as back-up if your second carrier has better coverage in that particular area. In order to utilize this feature, you'll need to find a carrier that offers this service. Apple displayed logos from several major carriers, so it's safe to say the majority will have this functionality.

New technology is always exciting, but ultimately whether or not the new iPhone XS is right for you is a decision only you can make.
