No time for infographics? How to share visual market info in 30 seconds or less

Running a lockbox to a new listing. Meeting a potential buyer for coffee. Coordinating professional photos at dusk. Hiding a kitty litter box before a showing. Spending three hours designing an infographic.

One of these things is not like the other...

Think about the last time you scrolled through Facebook. What types of content made you stop and pay attention? It was likely some type of visual content, as over 41 percent of marketers say infographics and other original graphic content get the best engagement. (Yeah, I found that statistic in an infographic.)

Yet, today's busy agents often have to prioritize business-right-now tasks over build-my-future-business tasks, which means coming up with visual content is likely getting pushed to the backburner.

Are you focused on "business-right-now" tasks or "build-my-future-business" tasks?

If you have 30 seconds or less, these #marketlikeapro tips for sharing visual content can help:

Step #1: Take a screenshot

Screenshots are the quickest and easiest way to get visual content out to your sphere.

Imagine you're browsing your brokerage's end of the month reports over coffee on a quiet Friday morning (an agent can dream). You grab a quick screenshot of the stats, post it to Facebook or Instagram—and BAM! You've just updated your sphere with quality real estate information AND you look like the neighborhood expert. #Winning

Now, you might be asking, "How do I take a screenshot?"

On a Mac

Simply press "Command" + "Shift" + 4 at the same time. When the "target" appears, drag it over the area you want to screenshot and release.

On a PC

Select the Windows Start button, type "Snipping tool" in the search box on the taskbar and then select Snipping Tool from the list of results. You can then select the mode (rectangular snip, full-screen, etc.), and then select the area of the screen you want to capture.

Step #2: Pick the right platform

You've got the screenshot—now what? There are so many places you can share this information, but with 30 seconds to spare, social media is your quickest and easiest bet.

Consider the type of message you're sending, who would be interested, and where you'll find them. If it's a screenshot of a new investment opportunity and your investor contacts are on LinkedIn, perhaps that's the right platform. A screenshot of first-time homebuyer stats might do well on Facebook or Instagram.

Speaking of Instagram, a recent study found that Instagram absolutely dominates when it comes to interaction rates on social media. Are you building a following there? It's a great place to show visual content like behind the scenes and day-in-the-life posts.

That's a screenshot. See how I did that? It took me five seconds!

Step #3: Share your unique twist

You've got the screenshot, you've picked your platform. With the few seconds you have left, add your unique twist in the caption/post.

Why should your sphere care about what you're sharing? Tell them. Use your personality and your insights to show your sphere you're the real estate expert.

Putting it into practice

When you add screenshotting (is that a word?) to your repertoire, you can quickly and easily engage with your sphere while looking like the true rockstar you are. Got 30 seconds to spare right now?
