The 4 Best Content Curation Tools for Real Estate Agents

January 11 2017

TSA curation tools

Now that you know the basics of what curating content is (and how to leverage previously published content without plagiarizing), it's time to dig into the best tools for aggregating content. Below are our top four recommendations, plus information on service levels and pricing.

Pocket

If you're an internet junkie, you probably need Pocket, an app that allows you to save articles to read later. Whether you're scrolling Twitter and see a long read about the housing market, or get an email from your mother sharing Great Uncle Harold's big win at the county fair, you can now save every "not now, but later" URL you come across. Whether you save articles to Pocket from your computer, tablet or mobile phone, you can access them later from any connected device — even when you're offline. And if you prefer Pinterest to Reddit, you'll be delighted by the service's sleek display and design.

Who it's best for: Pocket has a pretty terrific free service, but its Premium service level — which is ad-free, searchable and includes personal back-up of your content — is just $4.99/month.

Feedly

Already know the sources you love and trust, but want them compiled somewhere other than your browser's bookmarks? Feedly is the world's most popular RSS reader, and it has outlasted serious competitors like Google Reader. Feedly users can create collections of their favorite content by entering in the URLs of blogs, news sites or other publications they follow. Premium users can set up alerts for specific topics. The service also has a multitude of impressive integrations, including with Slack, Google Alerts and Evernote; users can also schedule tweets directly to Buffer and Hootsuite. Its best feature, perhaps, is its clean design. With Feedly, you can read your favorite content without being distracted by pop-up ads or (even worse) terrible font choices.

Pricing details: Feedly has a free option for users who know the blogs or sources they'd like to follow. The "Pro" account, which runs just $5/month, is great for aggregating content on a specific topic. If you wish to collaborate with your group and take advantage of all of Feedly's tech integrations, upgrade to the "Team" account — a steal at just $18/month.

Buzzsumo.com

This service allows you to create "trending feeds" so you can stay current on the most popular articles for any topic you choose. In addition to boosting the most popular content in your feed, Buzzsumo also locates who the top influencers are for your chosen topics so you always know when your favorite authors have published something new. (Hint: this comes in handy if you have a local journalist who publishes housing market content, or if your MLS board posts irregular market updates that you want to leverage.)

Pricing details: Interested users can test out Buzzsumo's aggregation power by running free searches from their home page. Buzzsumo's paid model starts at $99/month for 1-5 users, so we recommend it for a small but serious team that's really focused on content marketing as a way to funnel in new leads.

Scoop.it

Scoop.it is another curation tool, but it goes beyond aggregation and offers its users the chance to republish content across their social networks and via HTML templated emails. Scoop.it's algorithms work to find relevant content results for any keyword you enter. Premium customers can then add their own perspectives and re-distribute the content across LinkedIn, Facebook, and Twitter — or to enter the content into a templated (or custom) HTML email to send to their databases.

Pricing details: Scoop.it has a free (but limited) service for single users and a pro account that accommodates up to five users for $11/month. The premium service, which includes the distribution options, is $67/month.
