RESO looks to sell out Nashville Conference with broker-heavy agenda

September 26 2016

RESO 2016 Fall ConferenceThirty spots. Remarkably, that's all of the registration slots we have left for the RESO Fall Conference coming up October 24-26. Just like the theme of this year's conference – "Accelerating the Reach of Data Standards" – we've accelerated the number of people who have registered early in record numbers. We are now expecting to sell out the Nashville meet with 300 total attendees.

Broker topics abound

This Fall Conference is loading up on content for our highly successful Business Track to supplement a stellar Technology Track. RESO was once thought of as being just for geeks, but now top real estate executives who understand the vital importance of new standards are helping us fill the room. We've responded with beefing up our topics for real estate brokerages, because they are the ones that new real estate standards are going to impact the most.

RESO needs more real estate broker-owners and franchised executives to have a seat at the table. That means the brokerage community not only needs to be present at the RESO conferences, but also become deeply involved as members in our RESO Workgroups. The RESO R&D Workgroup is an ideal place to start. We like to describe R&D as the top of the funnel for all new topics and initiatives. It's really where new RESO real estate standards begin, such as IDX Data Feeds, Saved Searches and Standardized Showing Information.

In fact, these are a sample of new standards ideas we were shared at the CMLS Conference in Las Vegas last week. We asked RESO members attending to rank these ideas, or come up with some of their own. At CMLS, RESO passed out postcards to solicit ideas – as well as rank current ideas under consideration. And we gave away a Amazon Echo and that drove great participation.

RESO Conference highlights

In addition to having more brokers participate than ever before so we can hear their challenges and better understand their needs when it comes to using data, on Monday, Oct. 24, from 2:30 pm to 5:00 pm, we will feature our incredibly popular RESO "Show N Tell" – which sold out quickly for participating RESO technology company members - which will showcase the inventors of amazing real estate technology related to data standards. They will spend 5-10 minutes on stage, showing, telling and demonstrating their latest product breakthrough, an interesting, innovative and compelling product or killer app that our real estate industry is just dying to see. The audience can vote through the RESO Conference app to pick the most innovative demonstration, which will win RESO "Show N Tell Best In Show."

Tuesday is jam packed with compelling General Sessions in the morning, from a look at the potential impact of AI (Artificial Intelligence), IoT (Internet of Things) and algorithmic business systems on brokerages, consumers and MLS operations to the latest insight into Upstream, and looking beyond the API and the future of Data Standards, there truly is something for everyone. We'll breakout into our two Tracks in the afternoon, with the Business Track focusing on both broker data needs, including a deep dive into Redfin and how it taps into the vast world of data use for its people and customers, as well as guidance for MLSs from a legal and MLS best practices. Zillow, known for hosting the signature reception at RESO, helps everyone unwind Tuesday night.

The Technical Track has a plethora of hot data topics, including predictive analytics being used to identify sellers and future pricing to OpenID benefits and implementation. We will also see what MLSListings and SmartZip are doing with the new RESO Web API and look at the RESO Data Dictionary in a true Schema utilizing Protégé.

Wednesday, we will finish out our conference by 1:00pm, highlighted by the keynote "Brokerage Lessons Learned from Joining 45 MLSs in 80 months," a view into Trestle by CoreLogic and its use of RESO Standards and a proposed solution for "Industry Wide User Federation by Clareity Security. We will have more input from our RESO Workgroups, learn how to create a Schema.org extension for real estate data based upon RESO Standards and a look at challenges and lessons learned from real world implementations of the RESO Web API.

Don't miss our biggest conference yet

Beyond all the education we provide, RESO Conferences always are more intimate, and arguably, more fun, with receptions that rival Conferences 10 times or more our size. Along with Zillow, our sponsors realtor.com, RPR, CoreLogic, CRS Data, DynaConnections, ShowingTime, FBS, CSS, Software Incubator/PropMix.io, DocuSign and WAV Group, make sure that everyone attending a RESO Conference has a terrific time - and are well fed -throughout our meeting.

So if you have been planning on joining us at this meeting, you better act quickly, as we can't add more seats due to space constrictions at the Renaissance Nashville Hotel. We've already increased our room block for attendees twice, as the city is remarkably packed while we are there. That's not surprising, because the RESO Fall Conference is being held at the same time and city as another large group of real estate broker senior technologists so we are likely to run out of our room block this week. And remember to put on your calendars for our Spring Conference, coming to Austin, Texas, April 24-26. Key your eye on updates here - www.reso.org/spring-mtg, as the earlier you register, you will not only be guaranteed a seat, but a lower registration fee.
