How Do You Market Yourself as a REALTOR®? Web? Print? Cheesy Billboards?

June 13 2011

In a recovering real estate market, agents must spend wisely when marketing themselves to potential homebuyers. According to the National Association of REALTORS®, 90 percent of homebuyers used the Internet in their home search.

Here are a few simple and beneficial ways to market online:

Blog

If you’re looking for a competitive advantage to get ahead, this is it. According to the National Association of REALTORS®, 90 percent of real estate agents don’t have a blog. Browse the web, put on your creative-thinking cap and begin generating valuable content. Once the content is there, your blog will acquire a following and you’ll soon be known as a valuable source and real estate expert.

We’ve all seen how businesses find innovative ways to interact with consumers via social media. In the real estate industry, agents have the opportunity to connect and network with more homebuyers than ever before. According to the “2010 NAR Profile of Home Buyers and Sellers,” 50 percent of homebuyers were first-time buyers with an average age of 30. Therefore, these young buyers are social-media conscious, meaning the right techniques can reach a mass audience.

Website

As stated before, 90 percent of homebuyers used the Internet in their home search. With that information alone, it should be a no brainer to have a website. However, don’t just have a website, have a website that’s professional and welcoming to visitors. The website you own is a reflection of you and the services you provide.

When listing homes on your site, use multiple photos. According to NAR, homes posted on sites with multiple photos were viewed 299 percent more. Overall, simply provide homebuyers with the information they want such as address, photos and price.

A new age of marketing is here and much of it can be done at little to no cost. Find your niche and spread your knowledge to build a social media following. Once you try certain social media and web tactics, be sure to monitor your results. Then, make the necessary changes and you will soon be on your way to dominating the web!
