Becoming The Social Authority In Your Local Market

June 06 2011

roost logoGuest Contributor Clark Alexander says:

The trick is to execute a strategy that will allow your posting efforts to generate the most return. A while back we talked about how search engines rank social generated content with both Google and Bing now factoring them into their search results. So how can we leverage this to build your local presence?

roostleader1. Search out and interact with other influential people in your market, a rising tide lifts all boats. And it goes without saying; make sure you are creating conversations within your own network.

2. Keep your conversations on the reservation. Using content from your site serves two purposes, it will keep people and their associated interaction within your universe and the back linking will have value to search engines. If you do send people off to the web to read content, think about using RoostBar to ensure your network knows who furnished the content.

3. Pushing noise out into the social ether will not help you reach your goals. If your social efforts are not generating engagement, change the record, without engagement you will get lost in the mix. Don’t be afraid to stir the pot, engagement begets engagement, make sure you get the ball rolling.

4. Keep the blinders on! It is very easy to get caught up in the lights and glitter of your social universe, focus on your local network and local matters.

At Roost, our goal in life is to help you harness the power of the social web to grow your business!
