November 11 2009

MLSFinder is among the most commonly used IDX systems for real estate agents in America hosting more than 50,000 agent and broker solutions. All MLSFinder solutions include lead capture, allowing agents to turn Web visitors into potential customers. MLSFinder may be installed into your agent website with relative ease through smart framing. Standard services include two links, one for IDX Search and another to automatically pull your listings by a separate link. If you do not have any listings, the agent listing link will pull all of our office listings.

Lead generation with MLSFinder includes Save a Search, Save a Listing to Favorites, and Register for Automatic Listing Notification. Other standard features include the ability to map a listing, send a listing to a friend, estimate mortgage payments. Inquire about listing, request a showing and print a listing.

Setup and Ease of Use

MLSFinder does all of the setup for the user. The company will help the user through the processing of the IDX solution with the broker and MLS, as necessary. Upon the MLS approval of the IDX link, they will provide the user three links.

  • Property Search
  • Your Listings
  • Mlsfinder.com login

The Property Search link and the Your Listings link should be forwarded to the Web developer for insertion into the appropriate places on the website. If using a template website from a leading company, it is likely that the back-office solution of your website will contain fields to cut and paste the links.

Customizing the MLSFinder to a company's branding is also fairly straightforward. After logging into mlsfinder.com with a username and password, personal photo and contact information is uploaded, which will appear whenever a consumer views listings on the website. Selections can also be made that regulate when a consumer is required to register, ranging from register, to view any listing (high), to only registering to save a consumer’s preferences (low).

Other Key Advantages

In addition to being able providing personal branding on all listings, MLSFinder offers the ability to create custom color combinations to seamlessly integrate the look and feel of the IDX solution to the website. Virtual tours can also be added to listings if allowed by your MLS.

MLSFinder offers a variety of reports on user activity, including how many visitors registered, who registered, property search parameters, favorite listings selected, and frequency of search. All of this information can also be exported to an Excel spreadsheet.

Strengths and Weaknesses

This company has a long history of supporting agents with IDX services and offers telephone support via a 1-800 number. They cover a wide swath of hundreds of MLSs, so it is likely that they already have data for your area – making signup a breeze.

There are no Web 2.0 features for sharing listings via Twitter or Facebook, and map search comes at an extra fee. Their map search product includes mapping by MapQuest and they include the ability for customers to view points of interest around the listing that may be important, like schools, hospitals, grocery, restaurants, entertainment and dozens of other categories.
