Real Estate Innovations from NY TechDay 2015

Last month, Onboard Informatics joined 400+ other technology startups and innovators at NY Tech Day to exhibit Onboard Simplicity to over 10,000 attendees. Companies came together from many different verticals including finance, advertising, social impact, fashion and, of course, real estate. The showroom represented a variety of sizes from big, established and well funded firms to those just getting off the ground.

Here are some of the most innovative real estate initiatives from NY Tech Day that impressed our team so much, we had to share for those who may have missed the event:

Perchwell

With a sleek, modern interface and advanced search functionalities this New York real estate search engine lets real estate agents better serve and expand their client bases.

UPTOP

This mobile app (iOS, Android) helps New Yorkers find rentals, schedule viewings, apply to multiple locations and submit payment all from their phone.

HomeSwipe

Following one of my favorite mottos, K.I.S.S., this mobile optimized website puts searching for New York City apartments at your fingertips and makes home selection as simple as swiping right or left.

ClearDigs

With one of the more unique business models we came across, this startup incentivizes current tenants to list their apartment when they know they plan on moving out, thus creating an inventory of available space before it hits more traditional channels.

CityRaven

This is a transactional online real estate marketplace that allows homebuyers of New York City residential real estate to find their next home through a highly personalized real estate search engine and then buy that home by either selecting pre-qualified real estate professionals, allowed on the exclusive marketplace by invitation only, or buy direct using an online home buying platform and get back 1.5% of sale price at closing.

Raaly

This is the pocket listing for rental properties. Consumers get access to upcoming lease opportunities before they hit the market. Each listing is curated so no more Craigslist bait and switch ads.

CartoDB

Like peanut butter and jelly, GIS data (of the Onboard variety) and maps go together well. However it isn't always as easy as making a PB&J. This company is taking on that challenge, enabling users to quickly and easily create elegant data visualizations on maps.

It was great to see and meet so many companies that are leading the way for technological innovation in the real estate sector. We at Onboard are excited to see where these great companies lead in the future.
