In this month’s issue of Entrepreneur, in an article called The Customer Capture Contraption (published online with the title “10 Ways to Turn Your Blog Into a Lead-Generation Machine”), author Ann Handley shares 10 basic but essential tips for turning web site traffic into bona fide real estate leads. When I say “basic” I’m not trivializing her suggestions. For the real estate industry, where statistics show that agents and brokers are still behind the eight-ball when it comes to blogging and social media, this information is crucial.
Recently we’ve pushed the theme that, for a real estate agent’s social media strategy, content is key—but not just any content. In one of our recent articles on real estate marketing, we argued that the best way to stand out from the competition online is to generate local-level content and subsequently become an authority on your particular neighborhood or area. You’re selling a lifestyle, not just a house. By providing content that no one else is providing on that neighborhood level, you’re showing how the community you serve is special and inviting? These links get passed around and before you know it, a prospect is contacting you because their comfort level has already been established.
