TULSANielsen News reports that 31% of U.S. mobile phone owners have a Smartphone, as of December 2010, and expect smart phones to become the majority by the end of 2011. Morgan Stanley Research estimates sales of smart phones will exceed those of PCs in 2012. In response to statistics such as these, the Greater Tulsa Association of REALTORS® and its subsidiary, Northeast Oklahoma Real Estate Services, have developed an app to allow consumers to search for available properties and open houses in the Northeast Oklahoma area. Searching for listings and open houses using the "Homes Near Me" feature will return listing results based on selected distance criteria. "A consumer can sit in any location and use this feature to see all the homes for sale around them or narrow their search by price, and a number of other fields," said Mike Cotrill, chief operating officer of the Greater Tulsa Association of REALTORS®. The listing details include photos, a description of the home, driving directions, and a map marking the home's location.

pr"The tulsarealtors.com website and mobile app are a free resource/app for consumers to access local listing information about houses currently available in our market, which covers Northeastern Oklahoma. The data is fed directly from the MLS system and updated multiple times each day. No other website or app is updated as frequently as tulsarealtors.com."

"Consumers have long had access to sites such as realtor.com, zillow.com, and truila.com. The problem with those sites is they are centered on generating advertising dollars. As publicly traded (realtor.com) or soon to be publicly traded (zillow.com) companies, ad revenue and quantity of listings become more important than quality and accuracy of these sites listings," explains Cotrill. These sites compile information from various sources, and quickly become very inaccurate and unreliable. Examples of inaccurate data on these sites can vary from list price, to even the status of the listing, meaning that it is no longer even on the market, sometimes for up to a year after it has been sold.
